I wonder, if on some level, this will replace diaries. Seems that all people of historical note from the 1800s and early 1900s (before as well, but I digress), kept a journal of their actions and thoughts.

Will Tweets, Facebook, et al, fill some small gap left by our culture's refusal to take note in a form longer than 140 characters, or 10 minutes of online video, or six minutes on TV before the next commercial?

I don't know about happier or not. Fatherhood is the harder route, without doubt. I don't want to make a long list of instances that made the effort worthwhile, but they exist.

I wonder if the difference between couples sans kids and couples with kids in terms of happiness is, on some level, like me before and after leaving Wichita Falls. Before leaving Wichita Falls, I was satisfied with my life. I thought my city was great, my school was excellent, my friends always there.

After moving to Austin and seeing/experiencing so much more (which is still quite limited considering WF and Austin aren't that different), I obviously realize my previous happiness wasn't really happiness, but I just didn't know anything else.

But, my opinions are tainted by the same logic as asking your dad if it is worth having kids....

Hi Brandoyd:

Since this is powered by WordPress, perhaps you can use "PodPress" as a means of having streaming Podcasts on your Blog with the option to download the MP3. It'd be a great addition to have a streaming PodCast, that way for some folks at work on work computers, they can listen to the streams as well. Don't know if PodPress is free though....google PodPress, it's a plugin for Wordpress.

Thought that'd be a kewl addition bud!

Depression is rage turned inward. When we can accept why we are angry and find the release then our lives unfold like a flower in bloom and all the questions are answered.
But remember the venus flytrap is a flower also. Be cautious but unafraid.

Good stuff guys. One rebuttal to Brandon's comment on eliminating all religious mention from the Ground Zero region: I certainly understand where you are coming from, but getting rid of all faith-based ministries (hospitals, shelters, soup kitchens etc.) would be a bit much. While all memorials at Ground Zero will serve (for some) to be a reminder of the evils of organized religion, I believe that faith-based ministries in the area should serve as rebuttal, to remind us all of the GOOD of organized religion. And in that light, the people behind the proposed Islamic center probably feel a duty to help the community in any way they can. The "divine command" to eliminate infidels is nebulous at best; the divine command to help the poor, the sick, the hungry, the naked, the imprisoned and the lonely is clear, in any religion.
